Acceptable use and abuse policy
Last updated: 30 October 2026. This policy protects the content you pay for, the people you practise with, and the integrity of the platform. It forms part of the terms of service and applies to every surface of TheatrePass, including the question banks, the tutor and mock interviews, peer practice video sessions and any future examination revision products (for example MSRA or MRCS banks).
Content and account abuse
These are material breaches of your licence:
- Account sharing. Sharing your credentials, letting anyone else use your account, or using someone else's. One account, one person.
- Content theft. Scraping, bulk copying, downloading at scale, screen-recording the banks, republishing, reselling, translating or distributing questions, model answers, mark schemes, audio or feedback, in any form, including into private study groups, messaging apps, other platforms or AI training datasets.
- Circumvention. Bypassing or probing access controls, rate limits, paywalls or entitlement checks; automated access of any kind without written permission; interfering with the service (for example malware or denial of service), which can be an offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990.
- AI features. Trying to make the tutor or the interviewer act outside its role: for example by telling it to ignore its rules, by trying to extract its instructions, prompts, mark schemes or hidden content, by feeding it material designed to produce harmful or offensive output, or by using it to answer clinical questions about real patients. Using automated tools to send answers on your behalf. Each of these is a breach of your licence and, where it targets our systems, circumvention. An output that seems wrong or unsafe on its own is not misuse: report it to us as the How we use AI statement describes.
- Assessment integrity. Uploading or soliciting leaked, confidential or embargoed interview or examination materials. Our material is written for practice and must never become a channel for real assessment content.
Conduct towards other people
Peer practice puts real applicants face to face, so the standard is the one you would meet at work:
- No harassment, intimidation, discrimination or hate speech of any kind, including on the basis of any protected characteristic.
- No sexual misconduct, unwanted advances or explicit material.
- No recording of other participants, and no sharing of anything a peer says or shows in a session without their explicit consent.
- No sharing of anyone's personal information without consent, and never any information identifying a real patient, anywhere on the platform.
- No impersonation of other people, colleges, examiners or TheatrePass staff, and no spam, phishing or unauthorised promotion.
Keeping peer practice safe
Peer practice connects you by live video with another member for a timed practice interview. Sessions are private to the two of you: we do not record them and nobody else can join. You can leave a session at any moment, and you can report a partner from the session in your Prep Lounge history, with Feedback inside the app, or by email to hello@theatrepass.co.uk. Reports are read by a person within two working days, and we remove members who break the conduct rules. Nobody under 18 may hold an account. If we become aware of content or behaviour that is illegal, we act on it, preserve the evidence, and report it to the police or the relevant regulator where appropriate. If you disagree with an action we take against you, the appeal route below applies.
How we detect abuse
We log access and usage server-side and investigate unusual patterns, for example simultaneous sessions from distant locations, bulk or scripted reading of the bank, or extraction-shaped behaviour. Anyone can report a concern with Feedback inside the app or to hello@theatrepass.co.uk with what happened, where, and any evidence. An AI output that seems wrong, unsafe or offensive goes to hello@theatrepass.co.uk with the subject line Unsafe AI output: attempt reference. Reports are reviewed by a human, and no action under this policy is ever decided by an automated system alone.
What happens when it occurs
Action is proportionate to the breach:
- A private warning and, where relevant, removal of content.
- Temporary restriction or suspension of the account.
- Immediate termination without warning and without refund for serious breaches: content theft, account sharing, credential resale, threats or violence, sexual harassment, hate speech, breaches of patient confidentiality, or unlawful conduct. This is set out in the terms and the refund policy.
- Where conduct appears unlawful, endangers patients or raises fitness-to-practise concerns, we may notify law enforcement or the relevant professional regulator, and we preserve evidence for that purpose.
Appeals
If you believe we have acted in error, email hello@theatrepass.co.uk within 14 days of the action. Appeals are reviewed by someone not involved in the original decision, and we reply with an outcome and reasons.
